As I have only just got e-mail facilities I
thought I would drop you a line
to say hello and thanks for supplying tickets for the Astoria after gig
party, when I caught up with you at the Pyramids gig, in Portsmouth. I
thought I would let you know my sentiments as follows :-
As everybody has already commented it was great to feel the atmosphere at
the Astoria gig, very reminiscent of their hayday, but the friendliness of
the band is truly overwhelming (offstage as well as onstage).
At the aftergig "birthday" party
we (myself and my partner Wendy) spent a considerable amount of time in
the company of Pip Williams (and Norman?sound man) who were incredibly
hospitible and informative throughout the night, introducing us to the
various members of the band, in particular Phil Lanzon, who even found
time to give us advice for our piano playing nine year old, Louise.
For much of the last 28 years I've dearly
wanted to buy Mick Box a beer for
all the pleasure he's given me, but, to show the nature of the guy, I
couldn't, he bought me one.
Having been lucky enough to have seen all
the uk touring line-ups since 1973
(including "Bob Daisley" at Donnington and "Gegg Dechert"
even!) and enjoyed
every one of them due to the quality that is synonymous with Uriah Heep
and
Mick Box, I have to say this is the best time of all. I think this line up
has the perfect balance between the feel for the past, and it's own
identity.
It has matured in the last 15 years into a band capable of producing (and
performing) relevent, quality music.
The experience of Acoustically Driven shows
the band on a new level, able to
look beyond normal limitations of rock bands, and look back at classic
songs
and enhance them with the right feel. With the team of Bob Carruthers and
Pip
Williams, together the future looks limitless.
There has never been a better time to be a
Heep fan.
